本片以倒叙手法回顾Houdini传奇的一生从他幼时在纽约的贫苦生活（他当时名为“艾瑞克威斯”）到他成为国际知名的魔术大师，他以向死亡挑战的惊险脱逃术让世人不由得屡次惊叹。。He works at the fairground as “Stump the Guesser”, who can guess anything for a fee. But suddenly his tricks stop working. And then he unwittingly falls in love with his sister whom he believed to be lost.
