The screenplay for the movie was written by Pete...。福原秀次（手越祐也饰）是善良内向的男孩，他同成绩优秀的哥哥秀一（柄本佑饰）还有父母过着平静的生活。有一天，秀次在骑车途中自行车坏了，幸好有黑社会分子鬼KEN（寺岛进饰）及其情妇茜（中谷美纪饰）的帮助。几天后，鬼KEN突然死了，秀次受到了冲击。 几年后，上了高中的秀次认识了女孩南波惠利（韩英惠饰），惠利因父母自杀而成为孤儿，寄养在叔父家，他们经常出入教会。秀一对教父宫原雄一（丰川悦司饰）产生好奇，教父在他的询问下说出了自己让弟弟成为杀人犯，一段他不愿意接受的过去。 后来哥哥秀一因作弊而停学，甚至成为纵火事件的嫌疑犯而被捕，家庭开始出现问题，周围环境也产生变化。秀次必须通过快速的奔跑来赶上生命的脚步……。
