Why are we he...。陈冬晴（陈美琪饰）无意间目睹了一宗惊人的谋杀案，之后她神秘地消失了。为了找回爱妻并解开谜团，张伟聪（刘松仁饰）开始了对于案件真相的追查。 最终，冬晴的尸体被找到，张伟聪怀疑她的死与身边的朋友余敏清（关咏荷饰）、凌梓峰（张国强饰）以及他的女友楚方怡（吴咏红饰）有关。张伟聪推理出最可疑的人是方怡，并计划揭露真相，但方怡出于害怕而自杀了。张伟聪认为此事有可疑之处，相信方怡是被人谋杀，而且梓峰是杀害冬晴的凶手。张伟聪与好友吴华生（林保怡饰）合力调查冬晴和方怡被谋杀的过程，但却没有确凿的证据将梓峰绳之以法。在调查的过程中，张伟聪还揭示出一个更大的阴谋。。
